London Startup Events: The 2026 Guide

Eight anchor conferences, dated where the organizers have actually published dates, eleven recurring series checked against their own calendars, five pitch stages worth planning for, and an honest note on the famous series that quietly died. Written from the organizer's chair, after 47 pitch nights in this city.
Most London startup event guides are written by people who have never run one here. The pages ranking for this search today come from an airport-transfer company and a couple of SEO shops, and they share a failure mode: they copy each other's 2019 lists, so they still send founders to series that no longer exist. We checked every entry below against its own calendar in late August 2026, and where something is dead, unannounced or inferred, we say so in those words.
Our claim to write this one: we run recurring pitch nights in about 25 cities, and London is 47 nights into that circuit. This guide covers three things, in order: the conference calendar from September 2026 through June 2027, the recurring nights worth a weekday evening, and the pitch stages you can actually get onto. At the end, quick answers to the questions founders ask us most.
Two structural shifts shape everything below. First, the live end of the scene has moved to Luma; Meetup now mostly holds the legacy communities. Second, AI ate the calendar: four of the demonstrably active recurring series in this guide are AI-specific, and they include the ones that fill to capacity.
The conference calendar: September 2026 to June 2027
Eight conferences anchor the London startup calendar between September 2026 and June 2027: Fintech Week London (Sep 7-11), Sifted Summit (Sep 30 to Oct 1, Shoreditch), SaaStr AI London in December, IFGS at the Guildhall in April, then the packed June fortnight of SXSW London, London Tech Week (Jun 7-11, 2027), the AI Summit (Jun 9-10) and Founders Forum. Prices run from free fringe events to conference badges from £350 plus VAT.
One honest omission before the list. The London Blockchain Conference has not announced a 2026 edition: as of late August its official site still lists the October 2025 dates. Third-party listing sites print October 2026 dates anyway. Treat those as invented until the organizers publish something.
Five days of fintech across the city, run by Fintech Fringe (a different organization from Innovate Finance, whose UK FinTech Week is in April, a distinction that confuses everyone). The startup ticket, £350+VAT at the second release, is the cheap way into a week that otherwise runs at bank budgets, and much of the fringe programming around the Summit is free.
The FT-backed European startup outlet's own conference, a five-minute walk from Old Street roundabout. The crowd skews post-seed: if you are raising a Series A or selling to people who are, this is the densest two days of the London autumn. Ticket prices sit on an external booking page rather than the homepage.
SaaStr folded its European flagship into a London December date; the 2025 edition ran Dec 1-2 at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge and a December 2026 edition is announced, but sources conflict on the exact days, so check the official site before booking travel. If you sell B2B software, this is the strongest VC turnout of the London winter.
The policy-and-plumbing end of UK fintech and the anchor of UK FinTech Week. Less founder-networking, more industry agenda; go when you need regulators and bank innovation teams rather than angels.
SXSW London
A culture-plus-tech festival rather than a startup conference: music, film and conference tracks with the streets of Shoreditch effectively becoming the venue. The organizers have positioned it as a 10-year commitment to the city, so expect a 2027 edition even though dates are unannounced.
The biggest badge of the year, and the badge is the least interesting part. The fringe calendar is where the founder value is: the week's best gatherings are free satellite events across the city (ours included), while the Olympia expo skews enterprise and government.
The enterprise-buyer end of London Tech Week: useful if you sell AI to large organizations, skippable if you build it for fun (that crowd is at AI Tinkerers, below). 2027 prices not yet published.
Founders Forum Global
The invite-shaped one on this list. You do not buy a ticket, you reach out and get curated in. Worth knowing it exists because its satellite events spill into the same June week that already holds London Tech Week, the AI Summit and SXSW; that fortnight is the single best time of year to be a founder in London.

The recurring series that are actually running
Ten recurring series pass our aliveness test for late 2026, each checked against its own calendar in August: our pitch nights, Silicon Roundabout Ventures, AI Tinkerers, AI Demo Nights, the AI Breakfast Club, AICamp, Founders Running Club, London Entrepreneurs Network, Entrepreneurs Collective, and a sold-out Savoy founders breakfast. Startup Grind London sits on watch: the chapter claims monthly events but listed no dated upcoming ones when we checked. The twelfth entry is the calendar that tracks them all. Four of the ten are AI-specific.
First, the graveyard, because old guides keep listing ghosts. OpenCoffee London, a fixture of every pre-2020 list, is gone: its Meetup group no longer exists. Founders Coffee Club runs Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh, but zero London events. A guide that tells you which famous series are dead is worth more than one that copies an old list, so if an entry below ever stops appearing on its own calendar, treat it the same way.
Notice where the links point. The liveliest series here live on Luma; Meetup holds the legacy communities. That migration is recent, real, and the reason a Meetup-only search now misses half the scene.
Ours, so judge the description against the numbers. Startup Valley has run 47 pitch nights in London with 1,593 attendees, part of 1,062 events across 25 cities; every night is 5-minute founder pitches with live audience Q&A. Founders present from their own laptop, and the networking runs on both sides of the pitching block.

Silicon Roundabout Ventures Meetup
Calls itself the biggest deep tech meetup in the UK, and the calendar backs the claim. The online Tuesday session is a structured hour of intros, contact swapping and Q&A; the in-person founders dinners (a US-expansion edition ran Aug 26) are the curated layer.
AI Tinkerers London
The "no sales decks" rule is enforced: demos must show real systems or code, or you watch from the crowd. The hackathons carry real money (a $10,000 Agents vs Wall Street edition ran Aug 16). If you build with AI rather than talk about it, start here.
AI Demo Nights
The scrappier sibling of AI Tinkerers, hosted by Andy Tyler and Oscar Falemara. The audience question round is the point: four minutes of demo, then four minutes of a technical crowd poking at it.
A working breakfast with live startup demos rather than a mixer, and it runs near capacity most months: the current listing already shows "Near Capacity". Register early.
AICamp London (London AI Tech Talk)
A tech-talk evening, not a networking-first one: expect speakers and technical sessions, with open discussion running late. Regularly hosted at Google's offices at 6 Pancras Square (a May edition there drew 206 RSVPs).
Networking at conversational pace, literally. Part of a 55-plus-city network; the run is easy by design and the coffee afterwards is where the introductions happen.
London Entrepreneurs Network
The volume play. Lighter curation than the rest of this list, but if you want a themed crowd on a specific weeknight (a fintech night Sep 7, life sciences Sep 2), the calendar almost always has one.
Entrepreneurs Collective nights
Curated small-group founder-investor formats: apply for a pitching slot or buy an attendee ticket. The speed-pitching edition puts a handful of pre-seed and seed founders directly in front of investors face-to-face; their judged pitch competition is covered in the next section.
Startup Grind London
The London chapter of the global community, speaker-led: recent sessions covered US expansion and go-to-market. One honesty flag: when we checked in August the chapter page showed no dated upcoming events, so confirm before you plan around it. A separate East London chapter runs pitch battles.
Hosted by Andrew Browning of Founder Nation: 30-second intros, one startup disaster story each, paired problem-solving, then networking. The sell-out is the story; get on the list well ahead.

Pitch stages worth planning for in 2026
Five pitch stages are worth planning for: The Pitch (free 90-second video entry, prizes up to £25k, but the 2026 cycle is closed and 2027 applications reopen soon), Entrepreneurs Collective's recurring investor-judged competition, AI Tinkerers hackathons with cash prizes, the a16z and ElevenLabs London Consumer AI Hackathon on Nov 9-10, and our own open pitch slots at every Startup Valley London night. One is free-entry, two are build-to-win, two are ticketed.
The UK and Ireland's largest pitching programme by its own description, and the most credible free-entry route on this list. The 2026 cycle has closed; applications for 2027 reopen soon, so set the reminder now.
The most reliably recurring judged pitch stage in the city right now: a members' club setting, investor judges, and multiple 2026 editions already behind it. You pay to be there, which filters the crowd both ways.
AI Tinkerers London hackathons
Build-to-win rather than pitch-to-win. If your strength is shipping, this converts a weekend into prize money and an introduction to London's most technical AI crowd.
London Consumer AI Hackathon
The biggest names attached to any open build event in London this autumn. Details beyond the dates were thin when we checked; watch the AI Tinkerers London page, which carries the announcement.
Startup Valley open pitch slots (ours)
Straight framing: there is no prize and no judging panel. What you get is a live crowd of investors and founders, questions you did not script, and the same stage again next month if you want it. For most founders that repetition beats a one-off trophy; apply here.
Where the London scene actually happens
The center of gravity is still Shoreditch and Old Street. Sifted Summit runs at Protein Studios on New Inn Yard, the AI Breakfast Club meets on Luke Street, SXSW London chose Shoreditch as its home, and our September night is at The Roundabout on Old Street. King's Cross, Canary Wharf, the City and Bloomsbury each hold a distinct slice of the rest.
The map, briefly. King's Cross is the developer-meetup pole: Google's UK HQ at 6 Pancras Square regularly hosts community AI evenings. Canary Wharf is fintech and scale-ups: Level39 at One Canada Square houses more than 180 startup and scale-up technology companies and runs its own mentoring and investment programming. The City and Farringdon carry the fintech conference load (IFGS at the Guildhall, Fintech Week's Summit at Fabric). Bloomsbury is quieter but real: Runway East hosted The Pitch's London final, and our Oct 13 night is at the UCL Institute of Education. The big-box conference venues sit at the edges: Tobacco Dock in Wapping and Olympia in the west.
Seasonally, June is conference season: London Tech Week, the AI Summit, Founders Forum and SXSW London all land inside two weeks. September and October are the festival autumn, with Fintech Week and Sifted Summit. The recurring nights run year-round, which is exactly their advantage: a conference introduces you to people once, a series makes you a regular they recognize.
Are London startup events free?
Most recurring London startup events are free. AI Tinkerers, AICamp, the AI Breakfast Club, Founders Running Club, the Savoy founders breakfast and many London Entrepreneurs Network evenings cost nothing. Nights like ours and Entrepreneurs Collective's are ticketed, and conference badges jump to £350-£700 plus VAT at Fintech Week London's second release. The rule of thumb: recurring nights are cheap or free, conferences are not, and the June fringe is the free way into conference week.
How do I pitch at a startup event in London?
Three routes. Apply for a recurring open stage: every Startup Valley London night takes applications at /pitch for a roughly 5-minute pitch with 2-3 minutes of live Q&A. Enter a judged competition: The Pitch is free, entered with a 90-second video, with 2027 applications reopening soon. Or buy into a curated format like Entrepreneurs Collective's speed pitching, where 5-6 selected founders meet 15-20 investors.
Whichever route you take, take it more than once. We have watched this across 47 London nights: the founders who get funded from live events are almost never the ones who pitched best on their first attempt, they are the ones the investors had seen more than once.
