SF Tech Week 2026 runs October 5-11, and as we write this on August 26 the official Luma calendar still says Coming Soon: zero events listed, six weeks out. Anyone selling you "2026 picks" right now is guessing. Here is what is actually confirmed, the anchor hosts to plan around, and the one dated event inside the week you can already book.

A word on why we're writing this. Startup Valley runs pitch nights and investor networking in about 25 cities; in the Bay Area we have hosted 141 nights and roughly 6,300 attendees since 2023, with 5-minute founder pitches and 2-3 minutes of investor Q&A. Our San Francisco series alone is 97 nights deep. One of those nights lands on Wednesday, October 7, squarely inside Tech Week, which as far as we can find makes it the only event in the 2026 window with a confirmed public date today. We'll list it below alongside everyone else's, described the same way.
The structure of this guide follows the actual state of the week: a small set of facts that are locked, a larger set of anchor hosts whose 2025 behavior is the best predictor of their 2026 events, and the registration mechanics that decide whether you actually get in. Where something is unannounced or inferred, we say so in exactly those words.
SF Tech Week 2026: dates, organizer, and what is actually confirmed
SF Tech Week 2026 runs October 5-11, 2026, presented by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). It is a decentralized conference: no single venue and no central stage, but hundreds of individual events hosted by startups, VCs, and companies across San Francisco, all collected on one official Luma calendar at luma.com/sftw. As of August 26, that calendar shows Coming Soon and lists zero events.
What is confirmed beyond the dates: the 2026 keynote roster is published, including Arvind Krishna (CEO, IBM), Brian Halligan (co-founder, HubSpot), Will Ahmed (WHOOP), Biz Stone (co-founder, Twitter), Cristóbal Valenzuela (Runway), Shuo Wang (Deel), and a bench of a16z partners. So is the featured-host wall: close to 50 organizations including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, AWS, Cursor, Vercel, Databricks, and a16z itself. Event submissions are open now at tech-week.com/host, with the official formats named as panels, happy hours, hackathons, lunches, and experiential events.
Scale, for planning purposes: the official site promises "hundreds of events" per host city, and Fog City Tech News counted 1,000+ across the 2025 SF week in its recap. Either number means the same thing for you: more events than any human can attend, so the game is picking anchors, not maximizing RSVPs.
One trap to defuse before you book anything: sf-techweek.com is not the official site. It is a stale unofficial community page frozen in 2022, still referencing a November week from that year. The only official sources are tech-week.com and the luma.com/sftw calendar. The 2026 Tech Week map, for context, is Boston May 26-31 (new this year), New York June 1-7 (already ran), San Francisco October 5-11, and Los Angeles October 12-18.

The anchor events: what to plan around while the calendar is empty
Nobody can hand you a verified 2026 schedule yet, because only one event inside the week has a confirmed public date: our own San Francisco pitch night on October 7. What you can do is plan around anchor hosts, mostly the organizations on the official 2026 featured-hosts wall, plus a couple of recurring open-door hosts worth knowing, read through what each of them actually ran during SF Tech Week 2025: the event, the slot, the neighborhood, and whether it was open or invite-only.
That is what this list is. Every 2025 fact below comes from the named 2025 schedule; every 2026 claim is limited to what the official site confirms (host wall, sponsor tier, keynotes). Where we say "expect," it is an inference from a host repeating, and we label it as one. The access status matters more than the name: 2025's hottest events (the a16z kickoff, OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) were all invite-only or approval-gated, and that pattern is the single best thing to plan around.
Ours, so judge accordingly, but the facts are simple: live founder pitches (about 5 minutes each, from the founder's own laptop) with 2-3 minutes of audience Q&A from investors, and open networking on both sides of it. We have run this format 97 times in San Francisco since September 2023.

a16z Kickoff
The week's ceremonial opening night, run by the organizer itself. In 2025 it took the Monday-evening slot and was invite-only. A 2026 edition is unannounced, but a16z is both organizer and Platinum sponsor, so the sensible move is to watch the calendar's first drop and apply the day it posts.
a16z Women in AI Mixer
One of the few a16z-hosted events that ran with open registration in 2025, which made it the realistic way into an a16z gathering for people without an invite. Same-organizer recurrence is the logic for expecting a 2026 edition; treat that as inference, not schedule.
OpenAI Founder Reception
The classic apply-early-and-hope event. In 2025 it was invite-only in Mission Bay, one of the week's few anchors outside the downtown cluster. OpenAI is on the official 2026 featured-hosts wall, so something is coming; assume it gates hard and have a backup for the slot.
Anthropic AI Founder Salon
A daytime, invite-only salon in 2025 rather than an evening party, which tells you the intended crowd: founders building on the models, not the happy-hour circuit. Anthropic is on the 2026 host wall. If your company ships on Claude, that is worth saying in whatever application form appears.
Google Cloud × Sequoia "The Stadium"
The big-tent counterexample: a large, open-registration evening in 2025, co-hosted with a top-tier fund. Google is on the 2026 host wall and Google for Startups holds a Gold sponsorship, so a 2026 edition is a reasonable expectation. Open events at this scale still hit capacity; register the day it posts, not the week of.
AWS demo night
AWS's 2025 entry was a demo night for teams building on Bedrock, one of the week's better structured-content events. AWS returns in 2026 as a Gold sponsor and featured host. Demo formats reward showing up with something to show; if you build on AWS, watch for the submission form as well as the RSVP.
Vercel × NVIDIA "World's Shortest Hackathon"
The best pick in the build-something-instead-of-another-happy-hour category. In 2025 it ran open in FiDi at the peak Thursday slot. Vercel is a 2026 Gold sponsor, which is the strongest non-official signal a host returns. Hackathons, even very short ones, are the highest-signal way to meet engineers during the week.
IBM Ventures × a16z speedrun
IBM co-hosted an evening with a16z speedrun in 2025. For 2026, IBM has bought in at Platinum, IBM's CEO keynotes, and speedrun's Jonathan Lai keynotes too. No event is announced yet, but that is about as much smoke as an unannounced event can produce. Expect approval gating.
Atlassian Startup Unleash Party
A reliable open-registration anchor in 2025, aimed at startups rather than enterprise buyers, and one more reason Thursday evening is the week's most oversubscribed slot. Atlassian returns as a 2026 Gold sponsor. If your Thursday is already triple-booked, this is the kind of event to catch early and leave early.
Perkins Coie Surf Meetup for Founders
A 7:30am surf session at Ocean Beach, hosted by a law firm, open to anyone. We include it for the tactical lesson: morning slots are the least oversubscribed real estate of the whole week, and the conversations are better because everyone there chose to be. 2026 status unknown; the pattern is the point.
swissnex robotics events
Switzerland's science-and-innovation outpost ran both a serious robotics-and-automation session and robot-puppy yoga in 2025, the latter open registration. Institutional hosts like this are underrated: no sales motion, genuinely open doors, and the robotics crowd shows up. Watch their Embarcadero calendar when the week's schedule drops.
How the Luma machinery works, and how to actually get in
Tech Week runs on Luma as a curated multi-organizer calendar. Independent hosts create their own Luma events and submit them, the Tech Week team reviews and approves, and approved events appear on the public schedule with map and tag filtering, on a rolling basis. Registration for the desirable events is usually approval-gated, so clicking Register puts you in a review queue, not on a guest list.
We organize on Luma for a living, so here is the mechanical detail that surprises people, straight from how the platform documents it. On an approval-gated paid ticket, registering places an authorization hold on your card; the charge only completes if the host approves you, and a decline releases the hold. A direct invite from the host bypasses approval entirely, which is why warm intros to hosts are worth more than fast clicking. Waitlists only activate once an event is genuinely sold out (capacity reached or every ticket type full), and hosts approve people off them manually.
Three practical moves follow. First, tap Follow on luma.com/sftw today: followers get notified as events land, and events land rolling, so the people who follow early see the open-registration anchors before they fill. Second, make your Luma profile legible (name, company, one line on what you do), because on approval-gated events that profile is your application. Third, for the invite-only tier, apply the day an event posts and spend the warm intro if you have one. In 2025 the hottest events gated by invite or approval; assume 2026 behaves the same.
Planning the trip: the fall ladder, the neighborhoods, and what changed since 2025
Early October is the densest stretch of San Francisco's tech calendar. Dreamforce takes Moscone September 15-17, OpenAI DevDay runs September 29 at Fort Mason, SF Tech Week fills October 5-11, and LA Tech Week follows immediately, October 12-18. If you are flying in, that ladder is the trip plan; many hosts run events in both Tech Week cities back to back.
A note on DevDay for anyone tempted to combine it with the week: in-person applications closed July 10, registration was $650 for invited applicants, and the keynote streams free. So for most readers the realistic combo is Tech Week in person plus DevDay on a screen.
Geography, from the named 2025 schedule: of roughly 38 listed events, FiDi hosted 8, SOMA 7, and downtown another 5, with smaller clusters in South Beach and Jackson Square. Translation: the week is walkable. Book a hotel anywhere downtown-adjacent and you can chain three events a night on foot, with genuine outliers (Ocean Beach at dawn, OpenAI in Mission Bay) as deliberate exceptions rather than logistics problems.
What changed since 2025, since recaps blur these together: TEDAI San Francisco is retired. The SF chapter closed after five years; its last edition ran October 21-22, 2025, and TED AI 2026 happens in Vienna, October 28-30. And the dAGI Summit that some 2025 recaps folded into Tech Week actually ran October 24, during Open Source AI Week, not during Tech Week at all. Meanwhile Boston joined the Tech Week map in 2026. When does the SF Tech Week 2026 calendar come out?
No release date is announced. As of August 26, 2026, luma.com/sftw shows Coming Soon with zero events, while host submissions are already open and being reviewed, and the official site says new events are added on a rolling basis as hosts get approved. Even the third-party guides concede the calendar typically opens for public browsing closer to the week itself. Do you need a ticket or badge for SF Tech Week 2026?
There is no central conference pass. Tech Week is decentralized: every event is hosted individually by a startup, fund, or company, and you register for each one separately on its own Luma page. Access ranges from open registration to approval-gated to strictly invite-only, and in 2025 the highest-demand events sat in the last two tiers. Individual hosts set their own prices; many events are hosted by companies as community or marketing events, and some (like our pitch night) are ticketed.
Which SF Tech Week 2026 events are confirmed?
Confirmed today: the dates (October 5-11), the keynote roster, the featured-host wall of close to 50 organizations, and the sponsor list. Confirmed individual events with public dates: one, as far as we can find. Our Startup Valley pitch night on October 7 at AI Start Academy.
