NY Tech Week 2027: Dates & Founder's Guide

We checked everything on this page on August 26, 2026, and we will update it the day a16z announces 2027 dates. Until then this is the honest version: what is verified, what is pattern, and what is inference, labeled as such.

Why listen to us on a conference we don't run? Because we run the thing that surrounds it. Startup Valley has produced 1,062 startup nights across roughly 25 cities, including 142 pitch nights in the New York metro. We know what fills a Tuesday evening in Manhattan, what an RSVP list actually converts to at the door, and which parts of Tech Week matter for a founder who is there to raise, hire, or sell rather than to collect wristbands.

When is NY Tech Week 2027?

NY Tech Week 2027 has not been announced. As of August 26, 2026, tech-week.com lists only the 2026 cycle, and no 2027 dates exist on the official site, the official Luma calendar, or anywhere else we could find. The pattern since 2024 is the first full week of June, Monday through Sunday, three years running. If it holds, NY Tech Week 2027 lands in early June 2027. That is an inference, not a date.

Nobody else has published the full date progression in one place, so here it is, each year verified individually:

How NY Tech Week actually works

Tech Week is a decentralized tech conference presented by a16z. There is no single venue and no single ticket: hundreds of independent hosts, from VC firms to startups to big tech companies, each run their own panels, hackathons, dinners, pitch nights and happy hours across the city, and you apply or RSVP to each event individually through the official calendar.

Events get listed two ways. Hosts submit through the official portal at tech-week.com/host, which currently redirects to hosts.tech-week.com/submit, and the official Luma calendar at luma.com/nytw also accepts event submissions subject to admin approval. Individual events then take RSVPs through Luma, Partiful, or the host's own page. In 2026 the official calendar organized everything into tracks (Founders, Investors, Students, Fintech, Hackathons), and the host list read like a sponsor wall: a16z, AWS, Deel, Orrick, Partiful and Gamma ran events, with OpenAI, Google for Startups, Stripe, ElevenLabs and IBM appearing across the calendar's sponsor and host pages.

Access comes in three tiers, and the official a16z event list is upfront about the top one: a visible share of events are explicitly marked "(Invite Only)", mostly investor and talent dinners. Below that sit the open-application events, where a host reviews who applied, and the walk-in layer of pop-ups, runs and mixers where everyone gets in. One 2026 guide (NYC B2B) put the calendar opening around late April to early May, with competitive events closing applications two to three weeks before the week and small meetups taking RSVPs up to the last day. That matches how we see event pipelines behave, so if the June pattern holds, plan your 2027 applications for early May.

The other thing to know before you land: the overload is real. Roughly a thousand events in seven days is too many to browse, which is why a whole cottage industry of unofficial trackers and curation guides exists around the official calendar. From our chair, having produced over a thousand nights of our own: pick two or three anchor events for the week and apply the day the calendar opens, cap yourself at about two events a day so the conversations you start actually finish, and send your follow-ups within 48 hours while people still remember which of the thousand events you met at.

The best of NY Tech Week 2026: your template for 2027

The 2026 edition, June 1-7, put roughly 1,000 listed events on the official calendar in seven days. The nine below are verified standouts and, more usefully, the recurring genres: the kickoff party, the pitch day, the public pop-up, the corporate flagship, the masterclass, the morning run, and the invite-only dinner. Expect the 2027 calendar to rhyme with every one of them.

Is NY Tech Week free?

Mostly, with an asterisk. There is no ticket for the week itself, and the bulk of the 2026 calendar was free to attend once your per-event application or RSVP was approved. Above that sits a visible invite-only tier, mostly investor and talent dinners, plus occasional paid programming. Budget zero dollars and real application effort: the constraint is approval, not price.

Do I need a ticket for NY Tech Week?

No. There is no badge, wristband or week pass, and nobody official sells one. Access works per event: the official site says that once the calendar launches, you browse events and apply to attend each one. Some events approve everyone, competitive ones review applications, and the invite-only layer never opens applications at all. Treat every event as its own door.

How do I host a NY Tech Week event?

Submit your event through the official host portal at tech-week.com/host, which currently redirects to hosts.tech-week.com/submit. In a16z's own words: "The event format is up to you. Popular formats are panels, happy hours, hackathons, lunches, or experiential events." Events can also be submitted to the Luma calendar at luma.com/nytw, subject to admin approval. From 142 New York nights of our own, three things we would tell any first-time Tech Week host: lock the venue before you announce anything, because the good spaces for that week go months out once dates land; expect a real gap between RSVPs and the door, and overbook accordingly; and give the evening one structured moment, a pitch, a fireside, a demo, because a purely open mixer is the format that produces the least follow-up. New York between Tech Weeks: the other 51 weeks

Between editions, the official machine goes quiet: as of August 26, 2026, the NY Tech Week Luma calendar at luma.com/nytw lists zero upcoming events. The city does not. Startup Valley runs pitch nights and investor networking in 25 cities; in New York we have hosted 142 nights and roughly 6,700 attendees, with 5-minute founder pitches and open Q&A.

That dormancy is the honest catch in every Tech Week plan. The week compresses a year of serendipity into seven days, then the calendar sits empty for eleven months, and the investor you met on June 3 has forgotten you by September. What compounds is recurrence: the third time someone sees you present, you have stopped being a stranger. So here is the 2027 plan we would hand a founder today. Assume early June 2027 until a16z says otherwise, and watch this page, because we will update it the day dates are announced. When the calendar opens, likely around May, apply to your anchors immediately.
