EV charging built from the circuit board up
PITCHED AT THE DUBAI NIGHT ON 15 SEPTEMBER 2026
Charging sites and battery systems are usually assembled from other people's chargers, controllers and software, so every fault or change waits on several suppliers. Tobor designs and builds its own chargers, control electronics and charging software in Gurugram, so it can adapt, diagnose and extend a site without that chain of hand-offs.
An electric vehicle charging site looks like one product and is really several: the charger, the controller inside it, the communication with the car, the payment flow and the back end that runs the network. When those come from different suppliers, a fault means finding out whose part failed, and a change means waiting for someone else's roadmap. In a fast-growing market like India's, where residential complexes, offices and fleets are adding chargers quickly, that dependency is what slows sites down and keeps them down.
Tobor, founded in 2022, owns that stack itself. It designs the control boards and communication modules, assembles the chargers, and writes the station management, fleet and driver software, which is how it serves apartment societies, commercial complexes and fleets from two-wheelers to cars. The same engineering now extends into battery energy storage and portable power, reusing the controls and software it already runs in the field.
These founders pitched at the same startup events. The room is usually the reason people find each other.
