Reading the carcinogens left on your DNA

Cancer prevention advice is mostly generic, because nobody can tell you which carcinogens you personally have been exposed to. Survalence's CaSe assay identifies the chemicals bound to a person's DNA and how much of each, which points back at the source, whether that is diet, workplace, or the water supply.
Contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune went undiscovered for 34 years, and as many as a million people were exposed before the worst wells were shut down. Exposure is the part of cancer risk that is in principle avoidable and in practice invisible, because the standard tools tell you about a tumour that already exists rather than about the chemicals that are working on you now.
Survalence measures the exposure directly. Carcinogens leave adducts bound to DNA, and the CaSe assay reads which ones are there and in what quantity, which identifies where they are coming from. That turns prevention into something a person can act on, by changing a diet, a habit, a workplace or a water source, rather than a set of population-level averages.
