Most people with a spare home will never list it publicly, because the regulation, the platform rules and the idea of a stranger in their bedroom rule it out. Stay is invite-only home sharing: private listings, access by code, a host you know and a guest you know.

Almost everyone who owns or rents a home is sitting on an asset they cannot use. Public letting platforms answer that with more listings, more strangers and more rules, and in most cities the regulation has caught up, so the honest answer for a lot of homeowners is that it is simply not for them. The empty flat stays empty.

Stay works from the other direction: the group chat. Listings are private, access runs on a code, and both sides of a booking come from a network that already exists, which is what makes the arrangement acceptable to people the public platforms lost. Smaller by construction, and that is the point rather than a stage it plans to grow out of.
