An insurance brokerage built around its own software
PITCHED AT THE SAN FRANCISCO NIGHT ON 5 AUGUST 2026
Insurance brokerages run on quoting, chasing and renewal admin that has barely changed in decades, and buying software has not fixed it because the workflow is the business. Klaris is a brokerage built the other way round, with the automation at the centre and the brokerage wrapped around it.
Selling software into insurance brokerages is a well-populated graveyard. The buyers are small, the incumbents are entrenched, and the workflow being automated is the thing the brokerage believes it is paid for, so adoption stalls exactly where it starts to matter. Several good products have died at that step.
Klaris takes the other route and becomes the brokerage, which means the software only has to convince one customer and the gains show up as margin instead of as a subscription someone has to justify. It is a harder company to start and a much harder one to displace, because a competitor would have to build both halves.
These founders pitched at the same startup events. The room is usually the reason people find each other.
