Performance car parts without the retail markup
PITCHED AT THE LOS ANGELES NIGHT ON 12 AUGUST 2026
Performance parts carry a large markup between the manufacturer and the enthusiast fitting them, and the buyer has no way to see it. Aetheris runs a membership model instead, where members get pricing closer to the real cost of the part.
Car enthusiasts spend a lot on parts and know they are being charged for distribution rather than for the component. The information asymmetry is the entire business model of the category: the buyer cannot see what the retailer paid, so the markup is whatever the market tolerates, and the person fitting the part at the weekend absorbs it.
Aetheris inverts that with a membership: pay to join, then buy closer to cost, so the company earns from the relationship rather than from each individual markup. It is a well-tested structure in other categories and unusual here, and it lives or dies on being the kind of retailer whose members trust the number.
These founders pitched at the same startup events. The room is usually the reason people find each other.
